Overview
The tourism industry has become one of the most significant and fastest growing industries in the world. According to the United Nation World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), international tourism generated USD 1.6 trillion in export earnings in 2017 and forecasted that by 2030, international tourist arrivals will reach 1.8 billion. In September 2018, the Tourism Ministry of Malaysia targeted about 28.1 million tourist arrivals in Malaysia in 2019 and 30 million in 2020. With this explosion in international tourism and the modernisation of the tourism industry, laws and regulations are ever more crucial to ensure successful businesses and happy travellers.
