According to the United Nation World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), international tourism generated USD 1.6 trillion in export earnings in 2017 and forecasted that by 2030, international tourist arrivals will reach 1.8 billion. In September 2018, the Tourism Ministry of Malaysia targeted about 28.1 million tourist arrivals in Malaysia in 2019 and 30 million in 2020.
