Our partner, Gan Chong Chieh, was recently interviewed by MelodyFM for its “早知law” show which features guest lawyers speaking on interesting areas of law and taking answers from listeners. The episode which was aired live on 10 July 2019 covered the law on Wills and Administration of Estates.
Mr Gan shared his views on the importance of making a will and the requirements of a valid will including the need for the will to be in writing and requirement for the testator’s execution of the will to be witnessed by two people. Mr Gan also addressed a variety of questions such as the method relating to the distribution of a deceased’s assets (with or without a will), the possibility of non-human beneficiaries of a will, how to challenge a will and the presumption of survivorship.
