MWKA Tech Online Talks are organised during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period to inculcate knowledge and awareness, promote deliberations, for networking and to explore new strategic partnerships amongst our associates and clients.

On 8 April 2020, MWKA Tech co-founder and principal consultant Mei Lum spoke on “Business Continuity during COVID-19: The Show Must Go On”. The talk focused on the challenges businesses faced during the MCO and what they could do to survive, and even thrive, under dire circumstances. The 6 items on our forecast are:

  1. Social distancing until 0 new cases or vaccine available
  2. MCO extensions + Gradual lifting of MCO by locality
  3. Safety precaution requirements at work sites
  4. Business model innovation with strong digital strategies
  5. Cashflow management crucial for SMEs
  6. Hybrid-Remote working becomes new normal

In the presentation, Mei shared a market analysis, and talked about the Covid-19 limitations on businesses. She mapped out effective strategies for managing remote work while maintaining productivity through the setting of expectations, investing in resources, building trust, and by encouraging interaction with both internal and external clients.

She also shared the importance of taking care of one’s own staff and people, to look out for their physical, mental and emotional well-being – through collaboration and engagement.

Finally, she shared how trust was pivotal in a business, what are some of the digital tools available to businesses today, and how to increase productivity.
